As some of you know,
we, IOTA Foundation, have built a tool to extract health metrics on the tangle:
measuring TPS, CTPS, avg confirmation times etc.
(if you don't, check it out)
This tool has been used for stress-tests & found it's way to the main-net,
because reading the pulse of the tangle is quite useful.
However, as the developer of this tool,
I feel it should be a community driven project;
where nodes choose to share their metrics & are aggregated in a sexy UI,
not ASCII tables.
(although this is kinda sweet)
1. I've uploaded the code to GitHub: https://github.com/alon-e/iota-ctps , anyone can run this on their node to verify our statistics (needs a node running with
--export, so may need to re-sync from scratch)
2. I call developers from the community who want to take this project (as lead or members) and expand it, to leave a comment here, or contact me on slack @alon.elmaliah - I'd be happy to advise such a team.
There are so many interesting insights to be learnt about IOTA: the tangle, the underlying network & the community, by taking part in this project.
but above all,
I truly think that the health of the tangle should be monitored by the community & not only by developers of the system.
Don't Trust. Verify.
