This is quite a historic moment, as IOTA is currently in the process of doing the first snapshot after we went public on exchanges. To make this snapshot as smooth, and as safe as possible, we have provided several scripts for the community to independently validate the snapshot and post the results here. People have started to send "real life" info : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2000113.msg20603056#msg20603056 but I have not found a clear description of what that is? So I sent a scan of my passport yesterday to david@iota.org, but had no reply.

But today there is more: a new wallet with a change of address generation process, came out, for security reasons, Iota transitions from addresses generated with CURL to addresses generated with KERL.

For people with IOTA, the situation is clear (read the post of the link above), follow step by step the instructions.

But for people like us, waiting for a major payment on a previous CURL address, I do not know what is the best to do...

Nothing if the security issue is not too urgent and we can transition once our claims will be proceed... or send david@iota.org a KERL address with usefull info by email... this would be safer but may increase his difficulty to collect, store, verify manual claim infos.

In a normal situation, I would say, let's wait for instructions.. unfornately, nothing normal here. I hope someone with intact relationships will ask and report.

Thanks a lot for the info Lionel. And yes, several of us have sent full ID info to David, as we realized that iotatoken on BCT is David, and he clearly indicated that a KYC procedure is necessary for the remaining manual claims in order to legally protect Iota Foundation... We are caught in a crossfire and don't seem to have much of a choice

The "old" address I sent David does not show anymore in 2.3 or in the Tangler explorers. How do you guys check if the claim has been processed?

I BELIEVE we will have to send new addresses again.

On slack, I saw CFB say regarding claims :
"It will be done after 2nd snapshot" (which I believe, he means "next" snapshot)
He also said mysteriously to the guy asking: "I will find you even if you try to hide.."

Which may mean: that he will handle the process himself, which would be a very good news.

I tried to transition the destination address that I sent for the claim, but the transition ends up refusing it because the account is logically empty. So transitioning is only to move funds to new accounts. So the only solution, is that we will have to provide a new claim destination. Perhaps will we have a full new set of instructions or even a web site to handle it.

For the time being, it is legit that they focus on helping IOTA holders with transitioning. And that we help.

So glad to hear an update. You know, that this is still on their minds. I couldn't care less about needing to do some sort of KYC verification. Iota was never intended to be a private system. If you want that buy monero. Anyway. YAY! This made my night.

The waiting is over, CfB gave precise instructions this morning for finalizing the manual claims:

In short:

• Create a NEW ADDRESS with the latest wallet (2.5.1) - that is, a string of 90 characters (A-Z,9)
• Send an email to come-from-beyond@mail.ru with:
  ¤ Ttile: MANUAL-CLAIM
  ¤ Body: your NEW ADDRESS (90 characters), NOTHING ELSE

On the following BCT thread, CfB posted two claimant lists:

¤ Unreclaimed during round 1 (never claimed)
¤ Unreclaimed during round 2 (claimed once, but not the second time)
It now appears that the “Round 2” addresses will have to be recovered with a new “Iota Recovery Tool” that will be released later this month.
However, David told me to email him my seed, so it’s not safe anymore and anyone gaining access to David’s email can pick it up.
I am wondering if there are more people here in the same case: you have an address in Round 2, and you shared your seed with the Iota team.
The safe thing to do would be to have our addresses processed manually before the Iota Recovery Tool is released.
Please let me know here if you are in the same case, so we can solve this together.

I am in the first list (round 1)

Anyway, in july, I have sent a “manual claim” email to david with my old seed and a new adress.

Therefore they have my seed.

This week I have sent to CFN a new manual claim mail with a NEW ADDRESS with the latest wallet (2.5.1).

However, It seems that it is not enough for people being in the first list like me: I had to send the same information via skype.

Needless to say that my balance is still 0.

You should be OK redecision, CfB will process your claim manually.

We people in round 2 who sent our seed however are now told to wait for an automatic recovery tool. The problem is that anybody who intercepted (or gained access to) David’s email can copy the seeds and steal our funds on the day when the Iota Recovery Tool is released. It will be some kind of a duel then - the first one to draw the seed gets all the Iota… And we could be fighting more than one looter when trying to retrieve our funds on that day

Im in that same case and my address is on the unclaimed list. I started the manual claim process with an email to David In Sept '16 then again in June '17. I received a DM through Slack from David confirming my email with instructions to wait. So Im still waiting. If anyone can help I would appreciate an update.
