Unless the situation has changed (and I do not know about it yet), as I understand, we are currently required to ‘manually’ setup our full node’s neighbor connection list. To do this, I have so far always sourced my neighbors from the slack iotangle -> #nodesharing channel. Frankly, although an automated means of neighbor discovery would be quite nice, the fact that until now we have been required to interact at the ‘personal’ level has been quite a pleasant experience, by which I have gained the acquaintance of nearly all the people I have so far interacted with in this process (I truly hope that it has also been a pleasant experience from their end as well!) Anyhow, since it appears that the slack channel has the commercial incentive feature whereby if you are not a paid subscriber your message history is regularly wiped-out, and as such any previous communications regarding neighbor connections is lost from the slack conversation. Thus, in order for neighbor information not to be lost, I now record on file the details of their node, their slack id, and I provide them with my email address, and kindly request theirs. The main reason that I keep track of who my neighbor nodes owners are, is to be able to promptly inform them about the times that I may bring my node down for whatever maintenance reason.
Anyhow, I have this one working neighbor node that was the first or second neighbor that I added, and since it has always been available, even though my node has been down some times for a couple of days or longer, they have never removed my node from their list (but they never have contacted me when my node has been down), I do not have any intention of removing the node from my list. The FQDN for this node is stirrlink.xxxxx.xxxxx (in order to prevent doxing I do not disclose the whole domain name, as such xxxxx.xxxxx is just a dummy placeholder hiding the real domain name).
So, to cut to the chase if you are the owner of my neighbor node in question, I’d appreciate a PM reply on this forum please so that I may take note of your ‘slack id’ and provide you with my email address. Also, I assume that since I would most likely not be the only neighbor node to stirrlink, if you happen to have stirrlink.xxxxx.xxxxx as a neighbor node and you know who this person is, please contact them and let them know about this posting so that they may contact me via PM.
Weird kinda request, I know …
Thanks in advance,
