Actually, the more I think about it, maybe there really is no value in having a seed longer than 81 trytes:
- IOTA's curl function always outputs 81 trytes, no matter how many trytes you put into it.
- ∴ there are only 81 trytes' worth of possible values that curl can generate.
- ∴ for any seed longer than 81 trytes, we now have a pigeonhole problem (assuming no collisions among 81-tryte seeds).
That is, for any seed longer than 81 trytes, there will always be an 81-tryte seed that generates the exact same addresses/keys.
Am I thinking about this correctly?
